Induction Week Part 2

Illamasqua group talk and make up demonstration...

During induction week we were visited by the well known British brand Illamasqua. We given a very inspirational speech which really put my mind to what I wanted to do with my life, where I could be in 30 years times and what I could achieve. This speech got me very excited to enter the real world and work in the fashion, film and make up industry. Once the talk was over an Illamasqua make up artist chose a model from the group and created a very subtle but unique look which was inspired by the spring/summer 2014 runway show by Sora Pol. This runway included many beautiful models with deep skin tones with diverse make up and would be flawless under the extreme light of the runway.

Here is the beautiful model Beth who was chosen to create the Sora Pol look on. Illamasqua spoke about how all their make up brushes they use are 100% synthetic and none of their products have been tested on animals. When creating Beths look she used a mix of five different foundations on a palette to highlight and contour in the right places of the face. When applying the make up her brush never stopped and was always adding and blending to keep the make up moving into the right place. The look she wanted to create on Beth was blown out with soft contouring, she used brushes and also her fingers to blend and apply the products as she wanted the look to be soft. The look was also created with mainly the highlighter brush, it was very important that she highlighted the centre of Beths face and straight down the middle as this is where the light would hit if she was on the runway.

Illamasqua make up task...

During induction week we were set a task by Illamasqua, firstly we had to get together in a group this group could contain 2, 3 or 4 people. My group had 4 members and we each had our own task and participant in the group. Antonella was the model, Heidi was the creator of the design and the spokes person and I was the main makeup artist. As a group the task was to use limited Illamasqua products and create a look in around 10 mins. This meant we had to work efficiently together to think of a story to suit the look we were going to create on the model. The look we created was a winter forest pixie and the colour we used to highlight the look was green tones and white.

This was our final look, we used green and gold gel eyeshadow on the cheeks, forehead and the brows. A liquid number 14 and 9 foundation on the skin, greeny blue lip gloss on the lips, white translucent powder on the eyelids, lashes and dropped onto the face. The brushes I used was not Illamasqua is was Charles Fox, however the brushes we used was a foundation brush, powder brush and two different eye shadow brushes (tapered one and rounded).
