Induction Week Part 3

Finding Make up brands in Southampton...

#1 Laura Mercier-

While on our way to the West Quay shopping centre me and my peer Sylwia stopped off in John Lewis to have a look at the variety of make up brands they have there. The first brand we spotted was Laura Mercier. The Laura Mercier counter was quite small however it was filled with a wide range of make up. We asked the counter manager at Laura Mericers what the best selling product was, however instead of showing us one product as there best seller they produced us with a board which was placed at the front of the counter so costumers could see clearly there best products. These products were the secret camouflage concealer the foundation primer and the tinted moisturiser. The counter manager was explaining to me and Sylwia how there range of product is suitable for all ages and all ages do buy there variety of products.

#2 Benefit-

The next counter I noticed was Benefit, Benefit on the other hand is quite different than most brands as its layout and chosen colours for its counter is very bright and girlie compared to the other well known brands. Benefit uses wild colours on there counter and also quite a lot of candy colours I think this allows them to target a younger audience as it attracts younger girls.. However when speaking to the make up consultant on Benefit she explained to me that they have a wide range of age groups from 12-70 years purchasing there products which actually surprised me as I personally thought it would be younger woman and girls.
Benefits best selling product is there mascara which is called 'They're real'. This has been there best seller for quite a while now and selling at the price of around £20 everyone just cant say no to that.

#3 Bobbi Brown-

Bobbi Brown personally is one of my favourite brands while using there make up you can always achieve a beautiful outcome. While speaking to the make up consultant she showed us a large stand  with there 10 best seller which is incredible to have 10 best seller. It starts with the long-wear gel eyeliner & ultra fine liner brush at number one, then lip colour, corrector & concealer, smokey eye mascara, bronzing powder, skin stick, vitamin enriched, pot rouge, shimmer brick and long wear cream shadow stick. Bobbi Brown products are marketed to all age groups and there buyers are a variety of ages and races.

#4 MAC-

MAC is a very well known world wide brand and in John Lewis in West Quay shopping centre they have a lovely counter, well actually its a few counters. MACs counters has a very large variety of products and more cosmetics than any of the other branded counters. MACs counter was presented very neat and was stocked up to the brim with make up. MACs best selling product is the Ruby woo lipstick and also the studio fix foundation. The make up consultant on MAC seemed very high spirited and very happy to talk about the products, she also quoted there motto which she said was there make up is for all ages, all races, all sexes. Its the make
up for make up artistes.

#5 Smashbox

Smashbox counter was not inside the west quay shopping centre in John Lewis with all the other brands in fact it was inside boots on the high street. The counter was quite small and was a single tall stand however it was double sided so had products on each side of the counter. The time we went into boots to visit smashbox there wasn't anyone on the counter, however another lady from a different counter came over and tried to kindly help us. Firstly there best selling product is the smashbox photo finish primer and is priced at £25. The tube isn't huge however only using a pea sized each time makes the product go along way. I know this for a fact because I have the primer and I can honestly say it feels like heaven going onto your face and its just so smooth. Its doesn't give any shine or extra oils, its quite matte however not too dry though. It gives perfect coverage on your face before applying your foundation which then goes on flawlessly. Smashbox is a range for all aged women however some products can be quite dear therefore young women and older women tend to buy from smashbox.
