Summer Project

Where I want to be in 5 years time... my mood board and interviewing my peers.

This was my mood board that I created during the summer holidays before starting my course Make up and hair design at Southampton Solent University in September 2014. I our given brief was to create and mood board which expresses and portrays where we want to be in 5 years time, what job we want to be doing and who do we want to be working. I produced a collaged mood board which had a variety of magazines photos sourced from Vogue, Miss Vogue, company and Style by River Island. I also included internet photos which was sourced from Google that were Broadway shows. My dream career is to be working for a high fashion brand weather its doing the make up on the models behind scenes on a runway show or fashion week or doing the make up ready for a double page spread in Vogue. Another career path I would enjoy doing would be working on  film sets creating elaborate make up designs such styles as Hunger Games, Black swan ect.. This type of make up is unique and fun to create and I would love to work on film sets with professional actors and models. My inspiration to follow my dream is within myself and its purely where I want to be in life. However i'm also influenced by the well known Pat McGrath who has been called the most influential make-up artist in the world by Vogue magazine and has years of knowledge and industry experience.

This mood board was designed and created by my peer Megan Owen. Megan started with creating a large planet earth with planes circling the globe and images of make up charts and designs which represents travelling with the dream of being a make up artist. Megans inspiration was from Karla Powell and Guildal Hall who is an commercial make up artist- these people influenced and inspired her to create this mood board. Megans research was sourced from the internet, the images came from a variety of site which was linked through google. Megans personal thought of the outcome of her mood board was she was happy with her design however she felt like she could of done better and maybe added more photos to represent who she wants to be more.

This mood board was created by Sylwia Mazur. Sylwias inspiration was from fashion and make up magazines. She is pursuing to have a fun career as a make up artist and to try out different things. Sylwia likes the use of wigs and using bright bold colours which she like to create dramatic make up looks. Sylwia see’s herself working for big brand names and want to do this while travelling the world. Sylwia got her research from the internet which was from a variety of websites which was in connection with Google search. She also used images from magazines theses were heat and closer which are two very popular British magazines. Sylwias personal opinion of her mood board is that she is very pleased with her design and the layout of the photos. She feels that it really reflects what she wants to do as a career choice and she felt that she spent quality time and thought about the design of the mood board.

This mood board was created by Hannah Thornborough. Hannah wants to become a personal make up artist for celebrities and wants to work with high end fashion. Hannah also likes the idea of pursuing a career with prosthetic make up. Hannahs inspiration and determination comes from the site and sound of the fashion world which has pushed her to pursue a career as a make up artist. Hannah sourced her photos from the internet which was from a variety of web pages in connection with Google search. She also found some photos from the worldwide social network twitter. Hannah is pleased with the outcome of her mood board and thinks it show a range of images reflecting on what she wants to do.
This mood board was created by Jamie Kale. Jamie found her inspiration was from Karla Powell and Christian Mallet. Karlas unique nail art and eye makeup design inspires Jaime to pursue a career as a makeup artist. Jamie however is also influenced by Mallet as he is known well by his prosthetic work. Jamie sourced her photos from Google search and also twitter. She also used 3D on her mood board as she created a prosthetic nose coming off the page. Jamie is very pleased with the outcome of her mood board as she spend a lot of time searching for photos and creating a prosthetic piece for the board. She thinks that her elaborate design really represents where she wants to be in five years time.
