Carina Buckley Analytical Review - The Danger Dress

Fashion Toast- Where have all the surfing cowboys gone

Rumi Neely is a very popular social networking blogger. Neely has her own website, which is linked up to, Facebook where she has 414,999 likes on the page, Twitter where she has 115 thousand followers and Instagram where she has 611,141 followers. You can tell by the numbers she a  online fashion sensation.

Analysing a single photo from the page 'where have all the surfing cowboys gone.'

Down this particular post of Neely's she has 8 photos of herself wearing the same clothes and it looks like the same location in a variety of different poses. Under all the photos its quoted "(Made by a Friend of Mine Danger dress, Wego slip-ons). How to make body conscious look fresh: generic slip-ons from Harajuku and some of that pale Venice Blvd. sunshine. Plus Friend of Mine just does it right in the first place. Called the Danger dress for a reason, careful how you walk in this one.."

Obviously she talks about being body conscious however she doesn't particularly say it was herself that was body conscious however I just feel the question of how to make a body conscious dress look fresh is quite contradicting itself as if you were body conscious you wouldn't wear a dress like this. As also the fact the dress is called the 'Danger dress' you wonder why you would wear something under this name is you were conscious. She also quotes at the end "Called the Danger dress for a reason, careful how you walk in this one.." however yet again if you had to be careful and were conscious you wouldn't particularly wear a dress that thing could easily show or pop out. When scrolling down her blog all the photos of herself, so she's clearly the model in each photo which then usually describes her outfit. By the fact that her blog and other networking sites are completely full of herself I get a feeling she isn't camera shy at all. In all her photos she's pulling different face expressions and in different stances which are all mainly in public places so it seems she's definitely confident. In this particular photo you can tell she is in the USA from the big paths and the sun shining down. As her title is Where have all the surfing cowboys gone, she's either found a saying which represented her title and purposely had the photo shoot there so the background would fit in or she's based the title of here blog from the wall itself. She modelling the clothes so she clearly wants to look nice in them and to get more viewers so she posed in this stretching position and up on her toes to elongate her legs to look taller and slimmer. The photo does look quite fresh which is what she quoted below the images. I think she pulled this off because of her stretching stance, natural face expression, sun beaming in and the head to toe white outfit. I find it quite interesting that the background is quite rural compared to her pure white clean outfit, as the walls and title has been hand painted because of the quality. I would say the framing of the photograph wasn't actually on point as its slightly slanted and in the left of the background is a car and another building. Her feet at the bottom are slightly cut out and also her head at the top covers the sign slightly as I see the writing as quite a main focus as the colour draw attention. The colour don't clash to much however as her outfit is white so it corresponds well with the bright background.
