Drawing

Art and drawing play a very big part in make up. Its essential to know the basic drawings skills to help give you a base line with make up artistry. In make up today its quite important to be able to draw straight lines and shapes as you don't know what sort of creative make up you might need to do. For the start of the drawing session we were previously asked to bring an A3 sketch book and drawing pencils with us to the session. We then started with having a look at the pencil hardness scale and looking at the variety of pencils.

With a pencil we started drawing lines in different positions and studying how straight our lines were. This gave me an accurate view of how steady my hand was and how to hold the pencil.
We then started drawing different shapes all free handed, we started with circles then squares, triangles and ovals. I did a variety of drawings of each shape with trying to hold the pencil at the end to get a light grip with the pencil. I tried to keep each shape steady and straight.

I then used my pencils and drew a small square with the gradient of dark to light with a variety of pencils all named at the side with what shade they are.
Next we moved on to drawing 3D shapes and trying to shade them to make them look more realistic. I drew 5 shapes that were all 3 dimensional. I then had to choose one of the shapes and draw it enlarged. I chose to draw the square enlarged and shaded around the edges to make the square look more realistic.

For our further development with drawing we had to go home and find a still life object and draw it free hand in 3 dimension. I drew a small chest, I tried to get it as accurate as I could with it being free hand, I also tried using a variety of pencils to draw the darker and lighter areas of the object. I think the drawing looks pretty good and the shading is good however I think the object is slightly off and the 3 dimension is not 100% straight however I think without using a ruler and looking at the object straight in front of me it came out pretty well.
